GOD WILL HONOUR YOU - By Bro. Paul Dhinakaran

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you… (Psalm 40:5)

In the Bible, we read about a God-fearing man called Jabez. He was a descendant of Judah, one of the 12 tribes of Israel. Let us meditate on how he made his supplication to God and how He blessed him.

Jabez was a man of sorrow. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I gave birth to him in pain" (1 Chronicles 4:9). He cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain" (1 Chronicles 4:10).

Many years ago, when we had been to Sri Lanka, we visited a hospital to pray for a child. The child had cysts all over the body- raw boils all over the skin! When we asked for the reason, pointing to the child’s mother, the doctor said: “Sir, this lady’s husband died three months after their marriage; at that time, she was unaware of the fact that she had this child in her womb. Grieving over her husband’s demise and worried about the chances of her survival, she did not have proper intake of food which resulted in the poor growth of the baby in her womb. That is the reason for the present condition of this child.”

Perhaps the mother of Jabez also, to use the same analogy, might have borne him in great pain, in similar conditions. He might have been forsaken by his mother, kith and kin. He might have undergone humiliation and loneliness. Most probably that is the reason why he prayed to God thus, with tears.

Jabez was also a man of prayer. His prayers were answered. The Bible says that God granted his request” (1 Chronicles 4:10). The Scripture also states that he became more honorable than his brothers (1 Chronicles 4:9). From this Bible verse, we can conclude beyond doubt that God did exalt him and place him in a much better position than his brothers. He wiped away his tears and turned his sorrow into joy.

Dearly beloved, you may be living a lonely life. You may have been forsaken by your own people. You may be undergoing humiliation. Do not lose hope. There is a friend who is waiting to help you. He is none other than Lord Jesus Christ. Trust in Him and seek His help. He will never reject you. He will come to your aid and comfort you. He will wipe away your tears and turn your sorrow into joy. He will bless you and make you a blessing for others.

The Bible exclaims, “Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you…” Psalm 40:5. According to this verse, Lord Jesus will perform wonders in your life. According to His divine plan, He will prosper you in your life. He will exalt you before all men.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

I feel so let down and miserable. I have been forsaken by everyone. I am going through humiliation. I feel so lonely. I feel like no one cares about me. There is none to comfort me beside You. I turn to You Lord. Please hear my supplication. Comfort me with your love. Bless me and enlarge my territory. Uplift me in my life. Make me a blessing for others. Make me a vessel of honour. Enable me to witness days of joy. Thank You for hearing my supplication.

In Your matchless name I pray.

Amen.
