The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.(1 John 1:7)
Beloved! History says that during the Roman Rule, the prisoners were subject to all sorts of humiliation and brutal treatment prior to execution. Then they had to carry their cross to the place of execution where they were nailed to it, making a spectacle of them much to jeer and scorn of the on-lookers. The cross thus signified pain, torture, shame and disgrace.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God suffered in the same way and the Bible says that His face was marred beyond recognition. His body was torn apart by the whippings and other forms of torture. He suffered this for you and paid the price of death on the cross by shedding His blood to deliver you from sin. It is His blood alone that has the power to cleanse you and set you free from sins.
“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
The Bible says that Paul was a very religious man well versed in the scriptures. He was a well learned man and very knowledgeable person of his times. He was a man of authority and a man of great influence. But when he came into the saving knowledge of Christ, he considered all these as rags to the glorious power of the cross.
Apostle Paul says, “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (Galatians 6:14).
Once during a geography class, the teacher was explaining to the students that the Pacific Ocean was more than eight miles deep. All of a sudden, a little boy jumped to his feet and said, “Oh! I am so glad that my sins are thrown eight miles under the sea!” The teacher got puzzled and asked him what he meant by it. The boy then explained that according to Micah 7:19 in the Bible, God treaded our sins underfoot and hurled all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
Beloved! Sin is powerful and deadly. But God broke the power of sin through Jesus Christ. There is forgiveness with Jesus Christ and when you seek His forgiveness, He will gladly forgive you and set you free from it and the guilt.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I praise and thank You for sacrificing Yourself on my behalf on the cross. Cleanse me with Your precious blood. I thank You that sin is rendered powerless in my life. Lord, help me to grow in You and walk with You. Help me to bring glory to Your name. I give You all glory, honour and praise.
Amen.
